Making the Most of Your Studio Session

Making the Most of Your Studio Session

Recording can be an investment, so a little preparation goes a long way. Here are some tips to help you get more done in less time.

Instrumentals:
Please bring your instrumentals ready on a thumb drive or send them ahead of time via email. If you’re recording over beats from YouTube, bookmark, save, or screenshot them so we can access and download them quickly.

Lyrics and Recording:
Memorizing your lyrics isn’t necessary for everyone, but it can significantly speed up your time in the booth. If you want to get the most out of your session, consider learning your lyrics in advance.

If you’re reading from your phone, putting it on airplane mode can help keep the flow going without distractions or interruptions.

Studio Guests:
Having guests in the studio can be fun and inspiring, but it’s best to keep the group small. Too many people can make the session feel unfocused. I’ve found that groups of three or fewer tend to work most efficiently.

Drugs and Alcohol:
Creative exploration is important, and some artists enjoy using substances as part of their process. Just keep in mind that productivity can drop if limits are exceeded. Knowing your own boundaries will help keep the session smooth and productive.
